The work

An improvisational painter working in acrylic and oil on canvas and board. Many pieces are made without a brush at all.

Meet the artist

I have been creating art since 2008, inspired by thoughts, feelings and the energy of the moment. I let the paint flow, let each colour mix as it happens, and push what I'm feeling onto the canvas.

New Voyage

Four feet of orange and gold pulled across a dark ground. It was made with Kam's flow technique, where the paint is guided and not brushed, so every ridge and vein you can see is one of a kind.

    The surface

Every piece starts on canvas or board. Some are small ten-inch studies. Others are four-foot canvases that need the whole floor.

  2. 02

    The colour

Acrylics, and sometimes oil, chosen for how they'll move against each other and not just how they look in the jar.

  3. 03

    The flow

The paint is poured and guided across the surface. Kam lets each colour meet and mix on its own, so no two pieces can ever come out the same.

“I experiment with the flow of the paint on the canvas or board and let each colour mix as it happens.”

    The moment

Each painting holds on to whatever Kam was thinking and feeling that day. Then it's signed, and it's finished.

“In each original piece I try to bring out my thoughts in the moment.”
